Ever wonder who’s behind all the new product designs and ideas here at Grilla Grills? Meet one of our engineers, Alex Bluhm. You can usually catch him out in “the lab” testing or dreaming up designs using computer software. We’re here to learn a bit more about him.
1. Where is your hometown?
2. Tell us about how you came to Grilla Grills.
I was working for an engineering firm where my job involved working in multiple locations. I wasn’t thrilled about the constant traveling so I started looking for gigs in West Michigan. I came across a job posting for engineering at Grilla Grills and thought it’d be interesting, so I interviewed and everything just fell into place.
3. What do you enjoy most about your job?
I’d say that I enjoy the versatility of my job. I really like that I have the opportunity to work on several kinds of projects and do a variety of things. Sometimes I’m working on the computer, sometimes I’m on the shop floor fabricating stuff, or even helping customers here and there.
4. What are you doing when you’re not at work?
This. By this, I mean more engineering design work. A lot of my hobbies are 3D printing, CNC machining, and anything I can get my hands on and tinker with. I have a lot of equipment at home and spend a lot of time learning as much as I can and doing that.
5. Where is your favorite place to visit?
Probably up north, in Pentwater, Michigan.
6. What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
Hmmm, that’s a tough one. I don’t think I could narrow it down to one.
7. What is your favorite thing to grill?
Burgers …that’s really the only thing I’ve tried grilling yet.
8. Grilla, Silverbac, or Kong?
I like the concept of the Grilla, but I like the look of the Silverbac a little better.
9. Is a hotdog a sandwich?
Is it? Is a burger a sandwich? No. It’s not. Ya know, because on all the menu sections a hot dog is never in the sandwich section.
10. If you had a pet gorilla, what would you name it?
Mark ….after THE Mark Graham.
