Blueberry Lemon Cocktail Syrup
This flavored simple syrup adds a refreshing kick to any drink whether it be a libation, or you are if you are just looking to jazz up a glass of iced tea. It takes no time to throw together and once made, it lasts for months in the frig!
- 1 pint blueberries
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 2 cups water
- The zest of 1 lemon
1.) In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar and the water; bring to a boil, stirring constantly, until the sugar fully dissolves. (You just made simple syrup.)
2.) Combine the blueberries and the lemon zest in a glass bowl.
3.) Pour the hot simple syrup over the blueberries and lemon. Let cool to room temperature, cover, and place in the frig for 24 hours.
4.) After 24 hours strain the syrup into another container and it is ready for use and/or storage.
HINT: Do not throw away the blueberries after straining, they have many delicious uses!
