Brown Sugar and Strawberry Cocktail Syrup
This syrup can be used for anything from a strawberry milkshake to a strawberry and bourbon mint julep, for those ready to throw down on some horse racing. The ingredients are simple, (brown sugar, water, and fresh strawberries), and the process one could knock out in their sleep. This one is super versatile and guaranteed to be a crown pleaser!
- 2 cups light brown sugar
- 2 cups water
- 3 pounds of fresh strawberries, trimmed
1.) In a medium saucepan, combine the brown sugar and water; bring to a boil, stirring constantly, until the sugar completely dissolves.
2,) Put the strawberries in a glass bowl and pour the hot liquid over the berries.
3.) Cover and let stand until room temperature.
4.) Place in the frig for at least 24 hours; longer is even better.
5.) Strain the syrup into a different bowl, and either use right away or store in the frig for up to 6 months.
