Grilla Grills South Carolina Style BBQ Sauce
South Carolina BBQ often times equates to mustard and vinegar and this sauce does not disappoint. When immigrants from Germany started living in South Carolina, they had no idea that their love of mustard would one-day come to influence one of the most unique BBQ sauces around. This traditional South Carolina BBQ sauce is heavy on the vinegar and mustard which makes it ideal for all things chicken and pork!
- 3/4 cup yellow mustard
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Pinch cayenne pepper
- Kosher salt, to taste
- Ground black pepper, to taste
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 4 dashes of hot sauce
1.) Whisk all ingredients together in a glass bowl, until completely smooth.
2.) Place mixture in a saucepan over medium heat and bring to a gentle boil; whisking often.
3.) Reduce heat to a simmer and cook for 10-15 minutes.
4.) Remove from heat and let stand until room temperature. Once cooled the sauce can be used right away or stored for a month in the frig.
