Mexican Hot Sauce
This recipe is courtesy of our neighbors to the south and it is AWESOME! This sauce has the perfect balance between heat and overall flavor. It also has the ability to compliment any dish that it may be paired with. SO, give this one a try and make it one of your kitchen staples! ENJOY!
- 1 pound dried Mexican chilis
- 5 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 white vinegar
- 1 cup tomato, diced
- 1 cup onion, diced
- 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
- 2 teaspoons oregano
- 2 teaspoons cumin
- Kosher salt, to taste
In a large sauce pan, combine all the ingredients and bring to a boil.
Reduce to a simmer and cook for 10 minutes.
Remove from heat and let stand until room temperature.
Put the sauce mixture in a blender and blend until smooth.
Strain the sauce into a bottle and it is ready for immediate use.
