Orange Vanilla Grilled French Toast Recipe
This grilled french toast recipe can get a little messy, but the char and smoke you get from the pellet grill makes it worth it. We recommend using slightly stale sourdough because the texture holds up on the grill best. You could also use brioche or Texas toast.
- 8 slices day-old sourdough bread
- 4 eggs
- ¼ C milk
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- ¼ tsp ground nutmeg
- 2 TB sugar
- ¼ tsp orange zest
Mix together all of the ingredients (other than bread) until it’s well blended. Place mixture in a shallow bowl. Preheat the Grilla to 350 degrees. Take the bowl to your Grilla with you. Soak the first piece of bread for about 5 seconds on each side, then place on the pellet grill. Keep adding slices until they are all on. Flip the first piece after 3 minutes. As you flip the done side up, you can dust with more fresh cinnamon and orange zest. After another 2 to 3 minutes, the slice should be done.
Remove from Grilla and serve with butter and warm maple syrup.
