Plum and Basil Simple Syrup
This syrup takes 30 minutes to make and it lasts for up to a month in the frig, making it the perfect cocktail companion for the summer time! It has hints of fresh basil, the tartness of slightly under ripe plums, and it pairs well with vodka and gin. So, give this one a try the next time you have folks over for a few libations!
- 2 cups water
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup fresh basil
- 4 plums (slightly under ripe), halved and pits removed
Combine all ingredients in a medium sauce pan and bring to a boil.
Reduce to a simmer for five minutes.
Remove from heat and let steep for 20 minutes.
Strain the herbs and fruit and let cool to room temperature.
