Smoked Brussels Sprouts Recipe
We know, you hated brussels sprouts as a kid. But done right with Grilla smoke and flavor, you and your kids will be asking for more of this amazing smoked brussels sprouts recipe.
- 1 lb. brussels sprouts (serves approx. 4)
- 2 tbsp. olive oil
- 1/8 tsp. cracked pepper
- 1 tsp. garlic salt
- Kosher salt
Preheat the Grilla, Silverbac, or Kong to 400 degrees. As your Grilla Grill heats up, wash off brussels sprouts with water and cut off the base of each sprout. Once the base is removed, cut a small X into the bottom core and throw the cleaned brussels sprouts into a large bowl. Douse the sprouts in olive oil, whether flavored or regular. Add in the pepper, garlic salt, and kosher salt to taste. Brussels sprouts typically need to be on the salty side, so throw a little extra salt on them. Spray your grilling rack with nonstick cooking spray and spread out the brussels sprouts evenly. Into the Grilla they’ll go at 400 degrees for 30 minutes. They’ll come out smokey, roasted and full of delicious flavor.
Why Smoked Brussels Sprouts Are Deliciously Different
Far too many people shy away from the humble Brussels sprout because they ate some very bitter-tasting concoction. What a sad fate for a veggie with so much to give! Like other cruciferous ingredients such as turnips, bok choy, cauliflower and kale, Brussels sprouts simply need some TLC to bring out their unique blend of texture and flavor.
In other words, they need a Grilla Grill master to land them back on the “nice” list!
When you learn how to smoke Brussels sprouts or even cook Brussels sprouts on a typical grill, you open a totally new door for a variety of dishes. Smoked Brussels sprouts take on the flavor of the smoke around them. That means if you choose a flavored type of wood pellet such as apple, pecan or hickory, your Brussels sprouts will offer a delicious hint of those undertones.
Stop pushing these dandy delicacies aside every time you walk through the produce aisle! Instead, embrace the Brussels sprouts and introduce your friends and family to an unexpected future-favorite menu item.
