Smoked Cherry Cocktail Syrup
At Grilla Grills, even the fruit goes into the smoker! This smoked cherry simple syrup is the ultimate way to jazz up your old fashion, or add some complexity to your Manhattan. As a bonus, after the syrup is made you have an awesome smoked cherry garnish, that will take any drink to the next level!
- 2 pounds cherries (any type of cherry is fine)
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 2 cup water
1.) Heat your smoker to 225 degrees.
2.) Spread your cherries out on a sheet pan and place on the smoker for one hour. (It is completely fine if you smoke them longer, if you want a very smoky syrup as your final product.)
3.) Combine the sugar and water in a medium saucepan and bring to a boil, stirring constantly, until the sugar completely dissolves. (You just made simple syrup.)
4.) Remove the cherries from the smoker, place in a glass container , and pour the hot simple syrup over them; let stand until room temperature.
5.) Cover the glass container and refrigerate for at least 24 hours.
6.) Strain the syrup into a new container and it is ready to use and/or store. The syrup will last several months in the frig.
