Smoked Rosemary Old Fashion
“Smoke and bourbon; they go together like peas and carrots.” We here at Grilla Grills we are fairly certain that is what Forrest Gump meant to say in the movie, but we can not be 100 percent sure. That said, smoke and whiskey do work extremely well together and this drink is one for the ages. It is fun to make, tastes great, and pairs extremely well with BBQ. Cheers!
- 2 oz. good quality bourbon
- 2 teaspoons dark simple syrup (recipe at grillagrills.com)
- 2 dashed Angostura bitters
- 1 sprig rosemary
- 1 orange peel
Have a rocks glass ready and light the end of the rosemary sprig on fire.
Turn the rocks glass upside down and gently place over the rosemary to extinguish the small flame, and trap all of the smoke inside.
In a separate mixing glass, combine the bourbon, simple syrup, and bitters; stir with ice for at least ten seconds.
Turn the rocks glass over and fill with ice; strain the prepared cocktail into the smoke seasoned glass.
Garnish with the orange peel.
